Experienced Breastfeeding Counsellor and specialist in providing newborn and maternity support.
I started my own journey as a parent 22 years ago. I am now raising 3 lovely, caring individuals. I was lucky enough to be able to successfully breastfeed each of them – however, not without their individual challenges. I had a completely different breastfeeding journey with each one and found that, even over those few years encompassing their infancy, that feeding advice and support was constantly changing and evolving.
I have over 20 years experience in maternity support, however I started my working life as a Nanny and enjoyed many years working with under-5’s and undertaking many roles. When I became a parent for the first time, I had lots of transferable skills from my early Nanny days, and this definitely helped me as I entered motherhood for the first time. Over the next few years I undertook training with La Leche League, UNICEF, Deborah Robertson’s Breastfeeding Specialist course and many more. I am qualified to Train the Trainer and to run Weaning Workshops for parents.
As a result, once I started working in the maternity sector, I became involved in antenatal and postnatal education. This included providing 1:1 Breastfeeding Support (and running drop-in sessions), leading Infant Feeding workshops and caring for your Newborn. For many parents, changing nappies and bathing babies – or simply knowing how many layers to cover their baby with when sleeping – may be completely alien to them.
I enjoy spending time with each family that I support, and I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and skills with you as you start your parenting journey.
