I am a medical doctor with a passion for breastfeeding. I am also a mother of 4 children. I graduated from medical school in Germany. I specialised for over a year in Gynaecology and Obstetrics in Switzerland before moving to London in 2008 and starting my own family.
I took a career break and to devote my time to my children and here is where I discovered my passion for breastfeeding. I noticed how so many mothers were struggling and stopping breastfeeding mainly due to the lack of support. I was blessed with a very straightforward and beautiful experience breastfeeding my babies and I recently weaned my youngest at the age of almost 3.
I realised I would like to be able to help others to share the same gift. I noticed that we doctors have very little training in breastfeeding and I decided to study for a diploma with Childbirth International as a Certified Breastfeeding Counsellor, which I received in 2014. I learnt how big the impact of Tongue Tie is on breastfeeding I decided to train at Southampton University and got certified in diagnosing and treating Tongue Ties in February 2016.
I noticed that mothers go to their GP when they have mastitis or thrush and get a prescription and will soon return because the cause for the problem was not treated.
In 2019 I became certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. My Certification number is: L-155968 and I am certified until 2024.
I provide medical advice as well as the breastfeeding support mothers need, and I treat the cause as well as the symptoms. I am registered and licenced to practice with the GMC (Registration 7011392), a member of the Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners and the Independent Doctors Federation, who do my annual appraisals.
I am insured to perform Tongue Tie Divisions with Beazley for my work as a Lactation Consultant and Doctor.
