I focus on supporting families to meet their breastfeeding goals on an individual level and advocating for breastfeeding resources and support on a national level.

After a career as a Deputy Headteacher in central London, Emma trained with the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers, qualifying as a breastfeeding counsellor with them in 2007. She is a volunteer with the National Breastfeeding Helpline and part of their training team.

Emma first qualified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2011 and recertified in 2016 and 2021. She has supported families at groups in Haringey for 14 years as a volunteer and has a small private practice.

Her book, “You’ve Got It In You: a positive guide to breastfeeding” was followed by “The Breast Book: a puberty guide with a difference – it’s the when, why and how of breasts” (published by Pinter and Martin). Her third book on breastfeeding past six months and beyond comes out in 2022.

Her articles have been featured in print and online including on the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative website. Her article, ‘The dangerous obsession with the infant feeding interval’ is her most popular.

Her private practice supports all parents but recently, she has focused particularly on helping parents to end their breastfeeding journeys.
